Online technology has come a long way in the last 10 ways. You can bring to life almost any idea! I know many people who have had an awesome idea for an online business but are worried about the learning curve to start it.
One of the best things to come out of the Internet is knowledge! With a couple clicks and a Google search you can learn how to do almost anything, including how to use technology in an online business.
You don’t have to learn how to code or become the next great web developer. Learning how to tweet or use an online accounting app can make a big difference in your online business. Knowledge is power and can help push your online business in the forefront of your competition.
When I started working online back in 2006 I had no idea what a blog was, much less how much technology is actually involved in running an online business. I had always been a quick learner when it comes to technology so I decided I would learn everything I could as quick as I could. It was the best decision I could have ever made for my online business.
Of course, I’m still learning how to use different pieces of technology and there are technologies popping up all the time, but overall I have a great grasp of most technologies that can be used to run an online business or blog. It wasn’t always easy but it was fun to learn.
If you are going to start walking (or running!) down the path of starting an online business I have 3 tips to offer you in terms of online technology.
Don’t be afraid to try a new piece of technology.
I understand it can be scary to step out into the land of the unknown. To move forward you can’t be afraid to try new pieces of technology. Chances are someone has already been there and done that and blogged about it.
Do a quick internet search and do some reading about the type of technology you want to learn. Learn from someone who has already mastered what you want to learn. It’s a lot less scary when you find someone else who has been where you are and can report from the other side.
Be aware! Backup and be secure.
While you shouldn’t be scared to try and learn a new piece of technology, you do need to be aware of what you are putting out in the internet. Remember once you post something online it’s always there – even if you delete it!
Also with internet hacking at an all time high it’s important to make sure you choose secure passwords for your accounts and take the time to backup all your data, even if you have to do it manually.
The most important thing to remember is to have fun with learning new technologies! Make it into a game. Learn with a friend. Reward yourself when you meet your goals. Do whatever you have to do to keep yourself motivated and having fun.
Even person and business will have different technology needs. Even person learns in different ways and at different speeds. The important thing is to continue to move forward and never stop learning!
